Hi there! What a week with the weather, it has seemed to cripple a major part of the US for two days. We do hope that everyone has made it out and is ready for the weekend.

During this lovely storm we have been able to sit still and come up with new ideas and the lanyard that we would like to showcase today is the Green Zebra Print Fabric Lanyard. It is green and white striped. I do believe with the green print we are now offering a zebra print for every day of the work week. Other variations are as follows:

hot pink & red
black & white
black & white with hot pink outline
tan & brown

Berry Camouflage Purse

This is a one of a kind purse, once purchased there will not be another duplicate. It is a dark berry colored, beautiful, velvet pair of pants with camouflage material used from the leg of another pair of pants. All of the cloth on the outside of this purse are repurposed materials. The zipper is pulled from the side of the camouflage pants leg and re-used as the zipper to close the purse. Inside this purse is the sweetest angel print. There are angels of all colors floating over a yellow background. The handle is made from the leg of the velvet pants and put together in such a way that the original embroidery has been preserved.

Safari Purse

Sometimes the sweetest things happen when you least expect it. Just before last Christmas, we were at a craft show where we met a family. They have a girl who was looking at the purse to the right and admiring it. There was a problem though, she didn't have the full amount we were selling it for, which was $35.00. In the spirit of giving, we offered it to her for less so she could afford the purse, since by this time she had circled by us at least 3 or 4 more times to admire it.

Needless to say, a few days later in the mail we received the sweetest thank you note I have ever seen! With permission from Kelsey and her mother we are posting this for all to see. It is wonderful to be a part of making someone happy!

The Bag Bugs - Addition to The Bead Bug Family

Hello,

It's been awhile since my last post and I have exciting news to share! We are welcoming our new branch to The Bead Bugs called The Bag Bugs.

Lanyards are fun and exciting to make and we still do make them (check out our new Fall/Halloween selections) but we wanted to expand, and expand we did with a new line of REALLY cute, useful and sturdy new handbags/purses.

To the left you will see an example. This one has a zipper top with a blue/brown/green flowered ruffle accenting the owls and camouflage. The eco-friendly part of the bag is the pants! I was looking at my daughter's jeans with holes in the knees and mourning the loss of yet another pair. Suddenly out of nowhere and quite like a freight train the idea came to me, why not recycle these jeans and make a purse. What came about after several prototypes and months of experiments are the bags you will see launched and sold on our website on Friday October 1, 2010.

I am so excited to be sharing these with you. I know you will absolutely love all of our designs and want one of each, I know that I do.

New Top Drawer Beaded Lanyards

I just have to start out this blog entry by saying thanks Ma!! Once again you show just how invaluable you are. Without her suggestion I would not have a name for the new category on The Bead Bugs called Top Drawer!

This category is for the beaded lanyards that are nicer than our ordinary everyday (really cool and pretty!) beaded lanyards. I am going to be constantly adding new lanyards to this section. What seperates these from our regular category of beaded lanyards is the availability and the quality of the beads.

These of course are more pricey than the others we offer but you will be guaranteed to get exactly what you are looking at AND due to quantity restrictions have the satisfaction of knowing that you will most likely be the only one you see wearing that exact lanyard. Once sold out these lanyard styles will be removed from the site to allow room for new ones.

I am soooo excited to expand this particular category. If you have any suggestions of what you would like to see up there let me know and I will see what I can do!

Site and Product Renovations

HI there,

It has been a quiet few months on the blog scene but now we are back! We are updating our site products and adding spring/summer lines for our Beaded, Fabric and Ribbon Lanyards.

We now have fabric lanyards that we create from fabric that we choose and then bring home to cut, size and sew up. After we are done creating each of our cool lanyards we put them on our site for all to see.

We are so excited about this coming year. Now that we have been around for awhile it is fun to watch the fashion trends and try and create lanyards that will compliment today's style. We will constantly be updating our inventory as we come across new ideas to try.

We thank you for your interest in our blog and hope to have many fun conversations! Lanyards are so useful for holding keys, store key chain cards and of course the ID Badge that everyone seems to be needing to wear today!

New to the beadbugs, our beautiful and unique beaded lanyard made of natural lumbang seeds that mirror the warmth and passion of hot summer days. These large nut seeds, which are also known as Hawaiian kukui nuts are extremely lightweight for their size.

Accompanying the lumbang seeds are hand-shaped beads, imported from the Philippines, and made from the nuts of the Betel nut tree. Lightweight and handmade, these beads are the perfect choice for a design encompassing the "natural look." Two of our designs also include orange irridescent and multi maroon irridescent seed beads.

How We Started Making Beaded Lanyards

We started The Bead Bugs because we love pretty beaded lanyards and needed something nice to carry our thumb drives on for easy availability. We have seen that the beaded lanyard is something that most people have a need for in one way or another. You can use beaded lanyards for many things like carrying your id badges, keys, key chain store cards or just to hold anything you dont want to lose or have to search for. We have found that beaded lanyards can be cross generational and cross gender, beaded lanyards dont just appeal to women or young people but everyone. We are web designers that are tired of only having one outlet for our creativity. We hope you like our beaded lanyards and ideas as much as we do. We have just added a new line of birthstone lanyards to The Bead Bugs. They come in clear, silver lined glass seed beads, or opaque rainbow white glass seed beads, 8mm glass round beveled crystals, and pewter spacer. Large 12mm round beveled crystal beads at the ends. As with all of our lanyards, two ladybugs by the back clasp finish off these beautiful lanyards. All lanyards come with silver keyring and clip clasp to allow for multiple uses. These lanyards are approximately 28 inches long.
